A Django web app that provides a UI for qualitative data coders to code the contents of news articles, which is being used to develop Natural Language Processing (NLP) to automatically code news articles. Part of a larger project to track discrepancies between media reports of crime and where crime actually occurs. My work has included:
- Redesigning web UI to make coding easier and more efficient
- Adding interface for coders to select location-relevant data within article text
- Maintaining web scrapers of media sources
- Automating email alerts for problematic scrapers
- Connecting Django database of articles to Google Cloud API to routinely assess sentiment in articles concerning the police
